Akbar Birbal Stories – The Statue of Wax
One day, King Akbar called Birbal and said,
“Birbal! It is written in your books that when Lord Vishnu found his devotee
elephant in pain, he himself rushed to help him. I can’t understand the
reason behind it. He had so many servants, then why did he take the trouble to
go himself?”
Birbal said, “Your Majesty, I understood your
question. I will answer this question in a few days later.”
Within a couple of days, Birbal developed intimacy
with the royal servant who was commissioned with the job of taking Akbar’s
grandson for a walk.
Tenali Raman Stories - The King’s Dream
Once Krishnadeva Raya had a wonderful dream.
He dreamt of a beautiful palace made of glittering stones which floated in the
air. The palace had everything that one could ever wish for. It could be lit up
with a thousand lights or made to disappear into the darkness by merely wishing
so. The palace glistened and glowed and whoever entered the palace felt
themselves in heaven.
But suddenly the dream ended and the palace
vanished. The king woke up with a start. The image of the palace was stuck in
his mind. He could not forget the dream palace and one day, he summoned all his
courtiers and told them about his dream.
Then the King then made a public announcement
saying, “If someone can make such a palace for me, I will give a hundred
thousand gold coins!”
Akbar Birbal Stories – Never Ending Story
Birbal was one of the favourite gems of King Akbar. But
as there is saying that, “A favourite never has a friend”, there were many
courtiers who envied Birbal.
They always tried to disagree him before Akbar. Once they
decided to teach him a lesson. They made Akbar addicted to listening to
stories. Then, they convinced him that Birbal knew a lot of interesting
stories.
One day, King Akbar decided to listen to the stories of
Birbal. Now, Birbal was caught in a vicious web. He hardly knew any story.
Still the royal orders could not be violated. Birbal started narrating some of
the stories that he knew.
Akbar Birbal Stories – Writing an Epic
Akbar always wanted an epic to be written by
which his name could become eternal. When he heard about the Mahabharata, he
wished it to be written.
He expressed his wish to Birbal saying, “I
want the Akbari Mahabharata to be written.”
“That’s a very good thought, Sir. It’s not a
very difficult job,” said Birbal.
“Can you write it, then?” questioned Akbar.
“Of course, Your Majesty,” replied Birbal. “I
just need some time and money.” Akbar chuckled and said, “Take as much time as
you want. You can get money from the royal treasury.”
