Aesops Fables - The Fox and the Bramble

One day, a hungry Fox was chasing a small dog. The dog ran very fast and jumped over a thorny hedge. The fox also tried to jump over the high hedge, but, he lost his balance. He held on to a Bramble bush to save himself. The Bramble had long prickly thorns.

The Fox got scratched badly by the thorny Bramble. He let go of the bush in pain and fell down, at once. His paws were hurt and full of blood. He had deep cuts on his feet. He walked with great difficulty.

The Fox was very angry with the Bramble bush. He blamed the thorny Bramble and said, “I held on to you to save myself from falling, but look what you have done!”

“You hurt me so badly. It pains all over!”  wailed the Fox.

The thorny Bramble smiled and replied, “Fox, do not blame me for your problems. You must be foolish to hold on to me for support.”

“I am a bush that has thorns. My thorns poke and tear others. With so many thorns, how could you even think of holding on to me without getting hurt?”

Do not blame someone else for your foolish actions.
